Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc. announces Scholarships to area students. MACF has over 70 scholarship funds and awarded scholarships to 120 recipients. Our funds are giving over $124,000 in tuition assistance for the 2016-2017 school year! In 1997 we gave our first scholarship. In the last 20 years we have awarded 882 scholarships, valued at almost $687,149 with the average scholarship awarded was $760. We are very proud of the individuals, businesses, organizations, and families who have stepped forward to provide this wonderful demonstration of faith in our young people and belief in the importance of education.
We have winners from High Schools from throughout our service area- Marshfield, Columbus, Colby, Curtiss, Greenwood, Loyal, Medford, Neillsville, Owen, Spencer, Stratford, Unity, Wisconsin Rapids, and even Fort Atkinson High School in Iowa. We have non-traditional students who are going back to school after a gap in their education. We have many local students pursing dance workshops this summer. We are proud of all of these students and their ambition and their dedication to furthering their education.
Awards Nights are held during the month of May. It is an opportunity to bring together the students who have earned these scholarships and their families who support them. It is a chance for the people who established these scholarships to meet the students who their scholarship will benefit. The scholarship fund holders have made a commitment to the future. They saw the value in investing in the future through educating our youth. These students are our future. It is in good hands.
In 2005, Marshfield Area Community Foundation, Inc. began publishing an annual Scholarship Bulletin that lists not only the Community Foundation scholarships, but also those scholarships of local interest funded by other foundations or by area individuals, families, organizations, and businesses. The Bulletin provides basic information about each scholarship, including eligibility criteria, where to obtain the application, and deadline dates. The Scholarship Bulletin is published by the Buyers’ Guide and distributed widely in our service area.
The Foundation is profoundly grateful to the donors who have created or contributed to the funds we manage. They are our life blood. Without these caring and generous people, the Foundation would not exist. The health of the Foundation and the community depends on an ever expanding family of donors who will come forward to address the needs of the area through their charitable giving.
